Amber in Calgary. A project I worked on with Wax Partnership just won a black pencil for design. The assignment was for me to spend the day with someone that was looked after by the Calgary Society for People with Disabilities. I heard that the city wanted to cut funding down and I think if everyone could see the wondrous humanity in the caregivers and the people that are unfortunate in having everything working except for their bodies they would be appalled. The group housing is bare minimum and there are no extras applied. The only luxury is the amount of love and normal interaction given by the staff. We did a series of photographs but I thought a picture of Amber sleeping was wonderful. Lying in bed before sleep with nothing to do or nowhere to move to just your thoughts and the quiet night.
